Iphone4 locked and free

Passcode protected iphone4. So far unable to use. I have been convinced after lengthy investigation that the previous owner has recovered his loss and Im morally comfortable. Will it ever be a usable device again? What steps do I take to activate? Currently using 3GS 32 ATT.

Connect to iTunes, restore as new, cut your sim card down to fit and insert.

Alli, Should I use existing Sim in the IP4, no sim at all, or my 3gs sim cut down during the restore? I'm using a different IP address with a recently downloaded Itunes (non-registered).

I'm using my cutdown original sim I've had since my 3G.

Easy as! and you can buy a micro sim cutter off Ebay to help with a perfect cut.
