Free AT&T 3G femtocell

A couple of my friends have received a postcard from AT&T for a free femtocell 3G station. One says it doesn't help much but the other one claimed otherwise.

Is there anyone able to request a free one without getting a postcard in the mail?

How well does it work?

I have read on other sites where people were able to get one of these free just from being in an area very poor coverage, however, ymmv.

I heard of people getting these letters, although don't think anyone has had any success in requesting one. Try it?

I got a notice a week ago. I picked it up the next day and it works great! The area we moved to is in a weird weak spot, and we were averaging 1-2 bars in the house. Walk to the end of the driveway, 4.

The micorcell can be a little quirky, but it works pretty good. Excellent deal for free.
