Price of Iphone in Canada

I am new on the forum and my friend want to buy an iphone 3g in Canada. I just want to know what is the absolute cheapest iphone plan and what does it get him. And what is a data plan for?

You will probably want to check the carrier's website (Rogers, is it?). The data plan is what gives you access to the internet, mail, etc...

There is no such thing as cheap in Canada

Best bet is to demand Rogers give you a very low voice plan and tell them you want data disabled on *their* end. However, they may tell you crazy stuff like they'll bill you for using WiFi. And they may charge you crazy off-plan prices, so you have to watch your bill like a hawk.

However, why get an iPhone and then cripple it? You'd be better off with an iPod touch and a free feature phone...
