Apple Pay in Restaurants

If I use Apple Pay in a restaurant, I am unable to leave a tip. Actually, if I try to use "tap" with anything, this is the case. Why is this and will it ever be fixed?

It's the way the restaurant has their terminal set up. Not anything you're doing, they need to talk to their supplier

What Twenty7delta said. It has nothing to do with Apple Pay or with Tap to Pay in general. It's the way the terminal is configured. They can ask for the tip before the tap.

Even if you would pay with a card you have to tell them howmuch you want to tip before they enter the amount you have to pay in the terminal. So why would it be different for apple pay?

The newer machines let you do it yourself. They hand it to you, you enter tip, amount, confirm, tap.
