I saw today on the Apple homepage that it is possible to connect 4 x 5k(!) Displays on the new Mac Pro (2017update). Is this true? I thought it is only possible to connect 5k Displays on a Mac with thunderbold 3.
    Did they change something?
    Thanx

Check out the information via the following link. There are 4 references to 5K therein.

Good morning Frank, if you saw this on Apple's website then there is a high chance it's correct Apple did do a minor refresh of its 'Trash can' Mac Pro with beefed specs.

However, I just checked Apple's site and saw this "— and still have enough power to connect up to three high-resolution 5K displays"

So maybe there was a glitch with the page you saw. Sorry Frank, no luck just yet
