Is it okay to remove (and throw away) the foam pads from the LCD connectors?

I'm replacing the LCD on an iPhone 6S and for convenience purposes I've considered removing the foam pad from the connectors to properly line them up without risking damaging the connectors.

Those pads are there to hold everything in place every time your phones shakes or moves funny.
Removing the foam pads will do the opposite of convenience in this case.
Leave them there will be your best option.
