Will updating iTunes solve my purchase transfer problem?

Ok, so I'm using a slightly older version of iTunes. Whenever I try to transfer purchases made from my iPhone to iTunes this is what happens: 1. a few songs from various different albums randomly disappear 2. A few song names change into really long, negative numbers. The question I have is, will updating iTunes solve this? I don't wanna risk transferring purchases from my iPhone to my computer until someone answers

You should always work with the latest update on all your Apple devices and Itunes.

I agree Larry in fact older versions of iTunes won't let you connect the latest i devices until you update

Using an up to date iTunes version *should* solve the problem for you.
