iPhone earpiece question

Is it possible for the earpiece grill to break or push down inside the phone if you push the grill? Or was it designed in a way that it won't break and get pushed down the phone?

I'm asking because if I want to clean the earpiece I don't want it ending up pushing down.

If you push on it hard enough, it will break. Having said that, to simply clean the earpiece grill should not require any force. See the thread via the following link for tips on how to clean the mesh.
