Can I upgrade my mac book pro to use 32gb of Ram

I need to run a parallel in order to use sql server on my laptop. I have 4 gb of ram and will be working with large data sets in the future. Would a 2 * 16 hurt my computer?

I think the newest ones are configurable to only 16GB, but it will depend largely on the model. Your best bet is to call Apple Support or visit the Genius Bar to find out. Also you can check the app store to see if the official Apple Support app is available for your macbook.
