You cannot pair your AirPods to a 3.5mm jack. Period! If you have an iPhone and you purchased it new then it should have come with a pair of EarPods that can connect to a 3.5mm jack. If you have an iPhone 7 or an iPhone 7 Plus then it came with a lightning to earphone jack dongle to use with a 3.5mm jack.
