why can't i send airdrop to my iPad from my mac?

i can send from mac #1 to mac #2 ..and i can send from mac #2 to the iPad i am referring to... but cannot send from mac #1 to either iPhone or ipad
help please...

On the iPad, swipe up from the bottom of the screen until Control Center comes up. When you see that tap the airdrop option and change it to "everyone".

Then try to airdrop from the Mac again.
