Whatsapp claims that I don't have enough storage space to restore my backup, yet I do

I'm trying to restore a whatsapp backup that I have on iCloud to my old iphone 5s. However it says that I need to free up a certain amount of space (400mb worth to finish off the backup), yet I have 2.5gb of space on my phone. The backup itself is only 1.4gb in size. Whats going on!!

I don't know, but you should contact WhatsApp Support to see what remedy they provide.

Are you looking at phone space? Or iCloud storage?
