I can't update my apple watch

My watch is connected to the charger, and over 50%. My wifi and bluetooth are on, on my phone, and i am connected to the internet. when i try to install the update on watch from my phone a notification pops up saying "unable to verify update" then goes on to say, " The watchOS couldn't be updated because you are not connected to the internet.

Reboot the Wi-Fi router and cable/DSL modem and then try again.
