synch problems between iPhone and MacBook Pro

Hi. I've just bought a MacBook Pro but the calendar and notes do not reflect what is on my iPhone - calendar is empty and notes are a year out of date). Notes are updating ok between my iPhone and iPad. Any idea what I need to do, please?

Try checking to see if Calendar and Notes are checked to sync in iCloud. On your Mac: Click the Apple menu logo in the upper left corner. Then, click System Preferences. Then click on iCloud. Make sure you are signed in with the **correct** iCloud account. Then, make sure the boxes are ticked for Notes and Calendar. Give it a few minutes, and restart your Mac if necessary.
