I would like to upgrade my operating system

I have an i Mac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with Memory 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I am wanting to upgrade to something 10.10 or later for running a newer version of Finale. Can I do that without bying a new computer and if so what would be the process?

Either initiate the App Store on your Mac or select software update from the  menu.
