do i need to change my apple ID if the email account is going away?

I work for Weyerhaeuser and we have been sold to International Paper, my cell phone use to be a company phone, but Weyerhaeuser dropped the phone service and now it is my phone. With International Paper taking over my Weyerhaeuser email is going away, is there a problem with leaving my Weyerhaeuser email as my apple ID???

I don't think there is a problem as the Apple ID doesn't validate the email existence after you've confirmed it. But you will stop getting emails when someone access your icloud. Also if you ever forget your password or secret answers you will not be able to click on the link provided for such changes.

You can however change your AppleID email address and that will keep all your purchases. Just go to https://appleid.apple.com and click on Change Email Address.
