Hi all, I have an iPad mini 2 I wish to give to a relative but I'd like to wipe it first. I'm told if I use the "Reset all contents and settings" it might go into a boot loop forcing me to plug into iTunes and hence focing an update to the latest IOS. I don't want to update as I want to keep the current IOS so I can re-jailbreak after. Is the above true? Will resetting force an update?

Welcome to iMore! Going to Settings > General > Reset > ERASE All Content and Settings should not cause a boot loop. Is there a slight chance it will? Sure. You never know what could happen but I'd say the odds are greatly in your favor.

I'm told doing this on a jailbroken device causes it. I'm not sure, seeking confirmation.
