I have an iPhone 6 that will not play a sound with text messages

The phone is not set on mute, there is no moon next to any messages, notifications are turned on, I have tried a hard reset, all to no avail! Anyone with a better answer please let me know thank you, needless to say all it will do is vibrate. Otherwise the phone works perfect.

Welcome to iMore! Check Settings > sounds> be sure an alert text tone is checked. Also, if you use custom alert tones for those that don't work, try a different alert tone.
Try Reset All Settings.
Reset All Settings
Go to Settings >General >Reset >Reset All Settings. This resets to default everything in Settings, including notifications, alerts, brightness, and clock settings like wake up alarms.
