Does iPhone save text message as draft if accidentally navigate away from it ?

I texted a long text then I got busy half way with the kids , my iPhone went to sleep and locked itself
I unlocked the phone but could not find the message
The message was to two people
I even tried to start a new one by adding both names hoping it may show up ,but it did not
Does iPhone save s draft and if so how can I get it back ?

As far as I know, it doesn't. Same sort of thing happened to me.
