    Welcome to iMore.

    It certainly could be the battery. Here is a suggestion to try first. I have seen this happen on iPhone's. Plug your iPad in for 24 hours and see if it comes to life. I have done this myself on an iPhone and the battery came back to life and has never been a problem since. If it does not come to life then I would make a Genius appointment to determine if the battery needs replacing. Hope this info will help you.
