Default Can I point a file to backup to iCloud drive?

I want to back up the movie folder that's in the iTunes media folder on my Mac. Can I set this folder to backup to iCloud with out having to move it to the iCloud drive folder?
    Does that make sense??!!
I have read reports that it's not worth moving the entire iTunes media folder to iCloud drive folder because the song would have to be re-downloaded in order to play (which makes sense) but I want to archive my movies.
    Many thanks

Maybe an external drive could be an option to consider.
