Will ringtones work to use as an E-Mail alert?

I want to buy a Shawn Mendes song and use it as an E-Mail alert. Will I have to buy it as a ringtone, song, All? Which will work to use as E-Mail alert.

Yes it can be done. Well you have a couple options. You can buy the song and convert it into a ringtone. That way you have the song as well. Or you can buy the ringtone and just use it. Go to Settings>Sounds>New Mail and set it as your tone.
