How do I add a past event to iPad Calendar?

Today is September 22, I want to add the date of a funeral on August 6th so i have a record of it, but as soon as I click ADD, it disappears.

What can I do? I also need to back-date other things like appointments for my parents, etc.

Go to Settings → Calendar → Sync, and then select a timeframe that will allow you to view those events. For example, select "Events 3 Months Back".
