Found iphone5 how to trace owner and return

I found an iPhone5 want to return it to owner but unable to trace,tried by connecting to computer through USB also but the data is erased.and I am unable to login to cloud account,it is asking previous owners account details.Can anybody help me to trace the owner.

Welcome to iMore! You can try activating Siri by holding down the home button and asking "Who owns this iPhone?" If the owner has that set up correctly Siri may give you the owner's contact info. Otherwise you're out of luck. Take it to your local police station.
