How do I keep Emails flagged?

Emails that I pin in the built in Mail app don't stay pinned. Any ideas?

I have numerous accounts with flagged items and have not had them unflagging on their own.

Figured it out. It seems that if you have mail settings synced for say one month, anything flagged that's older than that won't stay flagged.
