Saved Contact names are showing in whatsapp

Hey there. I'm very new to IOS.Coming from Blackberry. I have seen that when you get whatsapp msg/text/pic/vid/anything from your contact then in notifaction preview you see whats app contact name what they have entered while creating thier whatsapp account but in my case I simply gat notified with saved contact name.
Is thr any setting to do it.
using ios 9.3.4

Nope, there isn't. With their latest update for the app they changed how contacts appear in notifications.

I find this a very welcome feature as some of my contacts had only flowers emojis and other gibberish for a username. This way I can see directly who it is without having to figure out all these emojis.
