When I went to messaging the screen was squiggles and seemed locked. After several tries I finally got it to reboot. Went to setting for notifications and Phone immediately went to reboot and began the above pattern. Going on at least 30 min. I am also recharging as battery is draining.
I recommend you restore the device via iTunes on your computer, and hopefully, you've made a recent backup. As for why your device is acting that way, I do not know.
