Default this cable accessory is not certified message randomly appearing?

Anyone know why after 8 months I am getting the following message on my iphone 6 plus with current firmware.

"this cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone"

take note this is when the phone IS NOT plugged in. I could be walking on the sidewalk and it would appear.

I get this message randomly. I don't see it for a week then all of sudden it appears , disappears and reappears?

I have tried cleaning out the port carefully for lint and debris. I did find some the first time...about a month ago.

Now, today, that message appears, disappears and then reappears.

    Thanks

It's best to make an appointment with the Apple Store.
Looks to me like there is something wrong with your lightning port.
