Available storage should be your concern. My personal device is a 6s 64GB and my work device is a 6 16GB.

I find myself closing the available storage gap on the 6 16GB often.

If you are a heavy app user, picture/video shooter, and music lover... you will want the 64GB.

Welcome to iMore! Cloud services are great for backing up photos and videos but its use is somewhat limited on iOS devices. As the previous posters said, internal device storage is much more important but the amount you need depends on your use case. 16 GB generally isn't enough for the majority of today's users. Go with 64 GB if you can swing the additional expense. More apps, more music, more of everything.

Many users do well with 16 gb. There's cloud based apps like Box and Dropbox to store photos and videos. Music is what kills most people. If you have less than 100 apps with no huge apps and not much music, you can manage ok with 16 gb. It usually comes down to music. Most people here on the forum like a lot of music on the phone. All that said, if you can afford 64 gb, do that.

Most definitely go 64gb if possible. You will just be happier in the long run. I've got close to 20gb music on my phone so there is no way I'd be able to deal with the 16gb.

Even Apple has come to realize that 16GB is not as fisable as it once was. Rumors have it that they will replace the entry level iPhone with a 32 GB model

My GF has to constantly manage her 16 GB storage which becomes a chore after a while
