    Yes, as long as both iPads are connected to the internet.

    Welcome to iMore! You can message and FaceTime with him as long your iPads are using separate Apple IDs. You can't call or message yourself.

    Silly me. Of course I can't call or message myself. It's sounds a bit complicated setting up another Apple ID. and he doesn't have an email account either. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
