Text message problem

I have an iPhone 6s. I've been trying to text a friend who used to have an iPhone but now has an android. I changed the setting in my contacts from iPhone to mobile. I am unable to send her text or pictures. A message comes up that Days I need to enable IMessage to send.

Welcome to iMore! Sounds like your friends number is still tied to iMessage. They need to check with Apple and have them disconnect it.
