iPhone 5s stuck on, it may take a few minutes to activate your iphone

Hi I recently purchased an iPhone 5s from a friend and it worked fine until I tried to restore it to factory settings an now it's stuck on the ,it may take a few minutes to activate your iPhone screen, I don't use a sim in my iPhones,I have always just used my wifi to send messages an talk to people. Any help with this would be much appreciated as I've tried everything! Thanks

While you certainly won't need a SIM to run and use the phone, you MIGHT in order to activate it. Can you borrow a SIM from another phone, or friend or family member? That should get you over the activation hump.
