How can I get my photos on my new iMac to show up on my Apple TV?

We've got a new iMac that runs Photos (not iPhoto or Aperture). We're trying to get our photos to show up on our Apple TV but can't get it to work. We have all the iCloud photo stream settings turned on and our iCloud account is signed in.

Go into iTunes and turn on Home Sharing. iTunes>File>Home Sharing>Turn On Home Sharing. Once it's on, then go to File>Home Sharing>Choose Photos to Share with Apple TV. A new menu will open allowing you to pic and choose which photos you want to share. Images below to help you.

Thanks! I was in that area but perhaps didn't do it properly. I'll check it out again. Does the computer and iTunes have to be open in order for it to work or will it work all the time, even when it's off?
