I copied a text to the clipboard on my Iphone 6,how do I view the clipboard?

I held the main menu button and and pressed the power button, and it flashed, so I think what I want is on the clipboard. But how do I access the clipboard? As I recall, I had to copy the clipboard into a mail message, I think.

It sounds like you took a screenshot. That will be found in Photos.
To copy it to an email, select that screenshot, tap the Share icon bottom left, then Next top right, then the Mail option.
