Apple TV screensaver shows same photos

I have the newest AppleTV with 32GB of memory. I also have an old Mac mini running OS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 11.4

in the screensaver settings, i point to my aperture database containing thousands of pictures, however when the screensaver kicks in it keeps cycling through the same 25 or so photos. Any way to have AppleTV show more of my pics?
