How come my FaceTime activated after I verified my email but my iMessage won't?

I've verified my email several times for iMessage but yet it still will not activate so I can use it, what am I not doing right? My face time is working but not my iMessage

What device are you using? If you're using an iPhone, you don't really need an email for iMessage and Facetime. They should activate with your phone number.
Can you sign in to iMessage? Go to Settings >Messages >sent and received > Tap on Apple ID > sign in.
Toggle iMessage on.
