Why isn't there delivered written under my sent messages

I sent a few messages and delivered didn't pop up under them so I sent another one and it still hadn't pooed up that was 3 days ago and there still isn't delivered written underneath.

Welcome to iMore! Are the word bubbles blue or green? If they're green it means they were sent as SMS and you won't get a delivery confirmation. If they're blue it usually means they were sent as iMessages and the other party hasn't received them.
