How do you transfer Clash of Clans from one phone to another

My son plays Clash of Clans on his moms phone. Now he has his own phone and wants to be able to have the same progress on his new phone.

Unless the app has its own cloud-based game saving option, I doubt he'll be able to transfer his game progress into the new device.

The best thing he can do is to load the game on his mom's phone and see if there is an account login function, like so many games like this have.

If so, create an account with all his data in it, then go to his phone and log into that account; it should port the data over to the new phone. Then he can log out of his game account on her phone.
