Can I organize Photos by date?

I imported iPhoto into OS X Yosemite which only has Photos. The pictures are totally disorganized with new ones mixed with old ones. In iPhoto they were separated by date. Can I do that in Photos? It would be much easier to put into albums if I didn't have to search through 4000 pictures to find the ones I want.

By default they should be sorted by date. Make sure you're on the photos tab and you should see all the "Moments". If you zoom out it should go to "years". If they're still disorganized, I'd check to make sure the photos actually have the dates you're expecting. Something may have gotten messed up during transfer.
