my phone will not turn on and its charging

my phone turned off out of no where and i been watching charge over an hour. its charging and it will turn on. Apple sign will pop up and then it will go back to battery life picture. i held down the home and lock button multiple times. What do i do?

What model iPhone are you using? This issue generally points to a battery that has reached the end of it's usable life and the power is draining from the device faster than the phone can recharge it. Apple batteries are designed to maintain 80% capacity for 500 full charge cycles, so if you're using an older model it could just be time for an upgrade.
