Just bought a iphone 5s gold from a friend what do I do now

I have a old phone with prepaid virgin mobile, just bought a iphone 5s gold from a friend. I do not want a contract and would like to stay with a prepaid plan so far I have had no luck I called virgin mobile and they said the phone I bought is not compatible.

If putting the prepaid SIM card in the iPhone 5S doesn't work then believe what the folks at Virgin Mobile told you and then get a phone that's compatible with their network.
