Ipad 2 calendar won't allow more entries after 3 years. Why?

I began entering data on most days of the week 6/2013 until 12/2015.

check calendar settings under settings and see if maybe a sync limit is set.
i have not seen this before but i have also not set 3 years worth of data

Make sure the sync setting for your calendar is set to "All Events"
