Ive selected the wrong phone when syncing a new iPhone onto the iMac, is it possible to start again?

As a result this wiped all of my husbands phone and replaced it with old data from a previous iPhone. Is there anyway I can start the process again or will he lose all of his contact details again - moved from a 4S to 6.....
