Will the remote work for the Apple TV, if it is hidden behind a door in my entertainment center?

I have all of my media devices behind a wall that is behind my T.V. . Does the Apple TV need to have a direct line of sight for me to use the remote?

The new Siri remote uses Bluetooth to connect to the new Apple TV 4, if you have an earlier Apple TV with the ring remote it'll need a line of sight.
