Delay in waking 6s Plus using earbuds

Hello. Hoping someone at imore has either experienced this issue or could provide a solution. I'm using a 2 week old 6s Plus 16gb on 9.0.2. When using Apple supplied earbuds and listening to audio, pressing middle "pause" button to halt audio, however when pressing again to resume playback, I'm having to push it twice for playback to commence. This is also the case when using Siri. Could this be a bug or is there a Setting which controls playback using headphones?

All prior handset variations and iOS only required single push of pause button to play/pause audio or activation of Siri

Welcome to iMore, Chris! I just checked using my iPhone 6s Plus and there is no change from previous behavior. Single press to pause, single press to play, double press while playing to advance to next track.
