How can i change my old digital camera videos to an efficient video format at once?

Hi: I have in my library (iPhoto and photos) tons of videos in few formats like .mpeg or .avi and more from my old digital cameras.

Its been a few since I record all my videos with iPhone and I notice that i have a lot of really big files for a non that good in quality and long video and i would like to know if I can change all without destroy all the metadata. I downloaded "smart converted pro" and "4video MTS converted" but im no so self confident and I would like to ask you guys first just in case anyone can help me.

That?s to tag videos not to reduce de size and reformat .mp4 or another friendly format isn't it?
