Will my phone save my photos and contacts if i do a hard reset?

I got the ios9 recently on my Iphone 6 plus and the data for my apps aren't working, so the telstra worker said i had to back my phone up on Itunes and do a hard reset. Will my photos and contacts still be saved???

If you're syncing to iCloud for photos and do an iTunes backup, everything is saved and can be restored to your device after restoring the iOS on your device...
