Why don't synced podcasts from iTunes to iPhone show?

sync podcasts from itunes to iphone do not show

I sync my iphone to itunes on the computer. synch podcast is ticked and i have a number of podcasts selected to synch. After synching with the phone, none of the podcasts show in the podcast app.
In the "on my device" section, under podcasts, it shows these podcasts as being on the phone but I can't find them anywhere.
