Why don't I get notifications of text messages from a certain contact?

The text messages from my husband are received but silent. No notification sound. All other messages are received with the notification sound. To the left of his name on my messages screen there is a light grey crescent moon shape. I've tried everything to remove it, but can't. I've even deleted the contact and added him back using his nickname but no luck.

Open a text message thread from him... tap Details in the upper right... Switch off Do Not Disturb...
