Would 1 TB of flash storage make for a faster Mac than 512 GB?

I

iMore Question

Im about to buy a 5k 27 inch IMac, Ill mainly use it for Music Production and downloading/streaming videos/music.

iv selected most specifications the best possible, which leaves Internal storage, i definitely want flash storage, so iv got 512 vs 1tb, i was gonna pick 1tb but then i thought it would be a relief to save ?400! i can buy an extra 2tb hard drive storage for ?75!, however if the internal 1tb makes the actual running and browsing of the Mac faster in general then i think it'd be worth it.

if you could help me thatd be great guys, thanks!

The speed difference would be read/write speed of the external device and transfer capabilities of the connection to the external device vs internal flash storage... On paper there'd probably be differences but would you notice? Likely not...

I'm with kch50428. I don't think you would ever notice a difference in your daily use.

At the moment if the internal storage is still enough for your requirement, why not buy the 512 one. You can save 400 pounds. As your needs grow some time later you need more storage space and at that time you spend 400 pounds may get a 3 or 4tb hard drive. Plus, the new products always come up with new technologies, read and write speed will be much more faster than your iMac
